Morphology- it gets its name from the forward- pointing spines that cover their bodies to help protect them from predators. Caribbean spiny lobsters have a reddish brown shell, marked with occasional dark spots & 2 large, creams-colored spots on the top of the second segment of the tail.
Biology- Juveniles & adults are carnivores, preying on snails, crabs, & clams. They molt about once per year & when there older they can grow up to 15 pounds & longer than 3 feet.
